Key points
- Perplexity launched Teammates, always-on AI agents that take on multiple roles in a workspace and run jobs at the same time.
- Access requires Perplexity's $200 per month Max plan, which The Verge describes as much pricier than rival offerings.
- Teammates build on Perplexity Computer and reuse projects, skills and memory from existing Perplexity tools.
- Users can follow progress in individual threads in the Perplexity app and interact with Teammates in Slack.
Why it matters for marketers: Always-on agents that live in Slack and share memory with existing tools push routine marketing work toward delegation, but the $200 monthly price makes testing a real budget decision.
Perplexity has introduced Teammates, a set of work-focused AI agents that run around the clock. According to The Verge, each one can take on different roles inside a workspace and pull in projects, skills and memory from the Perplexity tools a user already has.
Teammates connect to Perplexity Computer, the company's system for deploying agents on a device to finish tasks. Perplexity says Teammates build on that foundation by handling collaborative, ongoing, large-scale work. Users can assign several jobs at once and track each Teammate through its own thread in the Perplexity app. They can also talk to them in Slack. The Verge compares the product to OpenAI's Dots and Claude Duet.
For marketers and content teams, the Slack integration and shared memory are the practical points. Recurring work such as research, drafting or reporting could be handed to a standing agent instead of being re-prompted each time. The cost is the other side of that: Teammates require the $200 per month Max plan, which The Verge calls much more expensive than the competing options.
Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas said on X that the company expects every organization to eventually have hundreds of Teammates working for each person. Teams considering a trial should weigh the subscription against the tasks they would actually delegate, and watch how the rival products from OpenAI and Anthropic are priced and packaged.
