Google rolls out Gemini 4 Argon to paid users with a temporary low API price

Google's new frontier model is live for paid subscribers and developers, with launch pricing that reportedly ends November 30.

Key points

  • Argon is live today in the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search for Pro and Ultra subscribers; Antigravity access is limited to Ultra.
  • API pricing is a temporary launch rate: input costs $2 and output $10 per million tokens, and Ars Technica reports both double after November 30.
  • Google says Argon ranks first on the Vals Index, which covers finance, coding, legal and tax work.
  • The Verge reports no timeline for Plus or free users; Ars Technica says Google declined to say when other Antigravity tiers get it.

Why it matters for marketers: Marketers can try Argon today only on paid plans, and teams building API workflows should budget for the reported price doubling after November 30.

Google has launched Gemini 4 Argon, its latest frontier model, after teasing it a few weeks ago. It is available through the API in AI Studio, in the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search for Pro and Ultra subscribers, and in Antigravity for Ultra subscribers. Google says it leads the Vals Index, a benchmark spanning finance, coding, legal and tax tasks.

Google also points to internal results. It says Antigravity helped teams raise agentic code submissions by more than 35% while cutting rollbacks by nearly a third. Per The Verge and Ars Technica, Google also credits Argon with improving YouTube's comment system and finding bugs in the Wing drone simulator. These are company claims, not independent tests.

For marketers, the practical issue is access and cost. Free users are left out for now, and The Verge notes it is unclear whether Plus or free subscribers will ever get Argon. Google's own pitch includes drafting client proposal decks from a folder of project files and setting up scheduled workflows in the Gemini app, which is relevant to agency and content teams.

On the API, Ars Technica reports the launch rate holds through November 30 and then doubles. The Verge adds that per-token price does not equal real cost, since models use different token counts for the same job. Teams planning agent workflows should test actual spend on their own tasks, using the post-November rate in the budget, before committing.
