Key points
- Argon is live now via the API in AI Studio, the Gemini platform, Antigravity (Ultra only) and the Gemini app and AI Mode (Pro and Ultra).
- Launch API rates are $2 for input and $10 for output per million tokens; Ars Technica reports they double after November 30.
- Google says Argon ranks first on the Vals Index, which covers finance, coding, legal and tax work, and beats rival frontier models.
- Google is offering 10,000 scientists a free six-month top usage tier in Antigravity; applications are open.
Why it matters for marketers: Marketers get a cheaper frontier model for content and analysis work now, but the introductory rates end November 30, so budget workflows around the higher price.
Google has released Gemini 4 Argon, its newest frontier model, to developers and enterprises through the API and to paying subscribers in the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search. Antigravity access is limited to Ultra subscribers. Google says Argon ranks first on the Vals Index and outperforms other frontier models on benchmarks in coding, finance, legal and science.
Access is uneven. Ars Technica reports that free users do not get the model, and that Google has not said when or whether other Antigravity tiers will get it. The Verge adds that it is unclear if Plus or free users will ever see Argon. Google says it is keeping Gemini 3.1 Pro available for now.
Pricing is the part to watch. The Verge describes the launch rates as roughly a fifth of what OpenAI and Anthropic charge for comparable models, though it cautions that models use different token counts for the same task, so real costs can differ. Ars Technica reports that the introductory rate ends November 30 and then doubles.
For marketing and content teams, Google highlights stronger writing: closer adherence to style instructions, less hedging and fewer clichés. It also shows a Gemini app workflow that turns a folder of project files into a client proposal deck, emails it and sets up a scheduled task for future requests. These are Google's own demonstrations, not independent tests.
Teams building automated pipelines should test Argon on their own briefs and measure token use, not just per-token rates. Plan budgets for the post-November price before committing production workflows to the model.
