Key points
- Argon is live now via the API for developers and enterprises, and in the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search for Pro and Ultra plans.
- API rates are introductory: $2 for input and $10 for output per million tokens, rising to $4 and $20 after November 30, per Ars Technica.
- Antigravity and AI Studio access is limited to Ultra subscribers; Google has not said when other tiers get it, according to Ars Technica.
- Google says Argon ranks first on the Vals Index, which covers finance, coding, legal and tax work.
Why it matters for marketers: Teams can test a new frontier model today, but the price rises after November 30 and lower tiers are shut out of agentic tools, so cost planning matters.
Google has released Gemini 4 Argon, its newest frontier model, after teasing it a few weeks ago and first giving it to a limited group of trusted cyber defenders. Developers and enterprises can reach it through the API, while consumers on the Pro and Ultra plans get it in the Gemini app and in AI Mode in Search.
Access is uneven. Per Ars Technica, Antigravity and AI Studio are restricted to Ultra subscribers, free users are left out, and Google has declined to say when or if other tiers will follow. Google says Argon ranks first on the Vals Index, and The Verge reports the company also claims wins over rival models from OpenAI and Anthropic on several benchmarks. Those results come from Google itself.
For marketers and content teams, the practical question is cost. The launch rates are well below what The Verge says rivals charge, but they are temporary. Ars Technica reports they double on November 30. The Verge also notes that per-token price does not settle total cost, because models can use different token counts for the same task.
Google also says Argon writes more directly, with less hedging, repetition and cliché, and follows style instructions better than earlier Gemini models. One demo has the Gemini app turning a folder of project notes into a client proposal deck and emailing it.
Before building workflows on Argon, teams should test it against their own content tasks, measure real token use, and model spending at the higher rates. Watch for any change to tier limits in Antigravity.
