Key points
- Claude Duet is in research preview on iOS, Android and the Claude web app, built on Claude Opus 5.5.
- Access is by waitlist for US Pro and Max subscribers only; Team and Enterprise plans are not included yet.
- Duet asks for approval before payments, messages, signatures or deletions, and moving money between accounts is blocked even with approval.
- Anthropic says it checks connected accounts only every few hours, since background checks count against shared subscription limits.
Why it matters for marketers: Marketers get an early look at an agent that works unprompted across business apps, with approval gates and usage limits that shape which tasks are safe to delegate.
Anthropic has released Claude Duet as a research preview, a standalone agent aimed at professionals and small business owners. It runs on iOS, Android and the Claude web app, and it is built on Claude Opus 5.5. Access is through a waitlist, limited to Pro and Max subscribers in the US.
Unlike the regular Claude chat, Duet reaches out to the user. It sends a short morning summary of what matters across connected apps, then contacts the user only when something needs attention. Tasks arrive by text or voice in one ongoing thread, and the agent works on its own cloud computer with a browser. It reuses memory, skills and app connections from the user's Claude account, and Anthropic points to its marketplace of connectors as the way it reaches tools such as Gmail and Shopify.
For marketing and content teams, the appeal is delegation of routine work like scheduling, dashboards, forecasts and invoice follow-ups. The guardrails matter as much as the features. Duet can read, draft and prepare by itself, but it shows its plan and waits for approval before sending, paying, signing or deleting. Anthropic also added a new classifier meant to refuse requests to share the most sensitive data, such as card numbers.
Anthropic is candid about limits. The early version can misread a thread, misjudge urgency and miss items that arrive between checks, and it is weaker at personal errands. Because background checks draw on the same subscription limits as other Claude products, Duet looks at accounts only every few hours. Watch how Anthropic tunes when the agent speaks up, and how Duet ends up fitting alongside the main Claude app.
